Every year, the Institution holds a General Meeting in a place of interest to the Institution and its members. At this meeting, the Institution reports its activities for the last year, and provides members another forum and opportunity to voice any thoughts they may have on subjects relating to the Institution and industry. Newly elected and continuing Council members are announced, and the annual IED Awards is also held at the same event. Attendees are also often offered exclusive or behind the scenes access to parts of the venue. Recent venues included the National Railway Museum in York, St. James’ Palace, Aerospace Bristol, and The Iron Bridge in Shropshire.
