Company membership
Membership of the Institution is open to companies who employ engineering and/or product designers, and who might benefit from the following:
- a structured focus for career progression with accreditation for the company’s students, technicians and professional engineers and the motivation to achieve high levels of competence.
- access to up-to-date advice and guidance from the Institution’s staff on matters of qualifications, training and experience required for registration with the Engineering Council (UK).
- the use of the IED logo where appropriate, to indicate external verification of the company’s level of commitment to development of technical staff in supporting the highest quality goods and services.
- a recognisable credibility symbol of commitment to engineering excellence in support of the company’s customer and supplier development programmes and improvement initiatives.
- an A3 presentation certificate to display in entrance foyer or other place of prominence.
- complimentary copies of the IED’s bi-monthly journal Engineering Designer.
- an excellent medium through the “company membership news” page in the IED journal Engineering Designer for publicising company news and events of interest to the engineering community.
- a well-publicised aid to recruitment supported by an advertising facility at preferential rates.
- access to use of the Company Membership page of the Institution’s website.
- access to the IED database and its membership of over 5,000 engineers and technicians.
- access to the IED’s growing membership of students and graduates.
- preferential rates for attendance at IED seminars, conferences and similar events and the opportunity to liase with our staff in arranging bespoke events exclusively for the company.
- an opportunity to meet with individual IED members at local branches, details of which are shown in Engineering Designer and on the IED website.
- regular networking opportunities with other organisations who join the IED membership.
- an identity with the IED, and through it with the Engineering Council (UK) and the Engineering and Technology Board.
- a voice, through the IED, in the engineering community and influence the development of its policies.
- an opportunity to contribute to the Institution’s comments on engineering and design standards and legislation.
Individually Tailored Relationships
With the great strength of a diverse membership, the IED is particularly focussed on catering for different individual interests and requirements. The Institution aims to provide Company Members with a bespoke service, which is dynamic, flexible and appropriate to the needs of the Company and the Institution.
