SeptemberNew Perspectives in Design Education4th and 5th September 2008 The 10th International Conference on Engineering and Product Design Education will be organised by the Escola Tècnica Superior d'Enginyeria Industrial de Barcelona (ETSEIB), Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Barcelona, in partnership with the Design Education Special Interest Group (DESIG) of the Design Society and the Institution of Engineering Designers (IED). UVAC Annual Conference 200813th and 14th November 2008 Royal York Hotel, York This year's conference will be focused on excellence in identifying and then delivering the higher level work-based learning employers and employees want and need in the context of future UK skills requirements. Drawing on national and international good practice, specific focus will be given to innovative and successful approaches to defining knowledge and skills needs, developing flexible learning programmes based on these needs, marketing to employers and employees, assessment and validation, funding (including employer co-funding), quality and widening participation. As in previous years, a key theme of the conference will also be the role of further education colleges in higher education delivery. Therefore, in addition to workshops and plenary sessions for higher education delegates and partner organisations, a dedicated concurrent track is also being organised, focusing on strategic and practical work-based learning for Mixed Economy Further Education Colleges.
